Get Involved

There's a place for everyone in the Dionysus Theatre family.

Dionysus Theatre is a community of artists, creatives, performers, makers, volunteers and theatre-lovers who come together to make bold, joyful and inclusive theatre.

Whether you’re an experienced theatre-maker, a creative looking for your next project, or simply keen to lend a hand behind the scenes, we’d love to hear from you.

Volunteer with us

Our productions and events rely on the energy, enthusiasm and generosity of our wonderful volunteers.

There are opportunities to get involved across all areas of our work, from ushering and front-of-house to bump-in and bump-out, costumes, props, set building, administration, marketing and event support.

No previous theatre experience is required — just a willingness to get involved, work collaboratively and have a good time along the way.

Keep an eye on this page and our social media for current volunteer opportunities.

Opportunities for artists

We’re always interested in connecting with artists who want to make interesting things with interesting people.

Depending on the project, opportunities may be available for performers, directors, writers, designers, musicians, technicians, photographers, visual artists and other creative practitioners.

We particularly welcome artists who share our commitment to creating accessible, inclusive and community-minded theatre.

Interested in working with us? Get in touch and tell us a little about yourself, your practice and the kinds of projects you’d love to be involved in.

Current Opportunities

We’re currently looking for artists and creatives to join our upcoming projects.

If you’re interested in getting involved with Dionysus Theatre, now is the time to put your hand up!

Director Call-out
Arete Festival 2027

Dionysus Theatre is seeking expressions of interest from directors to be part of our upcoming Arete Festival.

Arete Festival brings together emerging and established theatre-makers to develop and present new and contemporary works in a collaborative festival environment.

For this festival, a selection of scripts has been pre-determined for production. As part of your EOI, you’ll have the opportunity to preference the script(s) you are most interested in directing. You may nominate one or multiple scripts, and we’ll take your preferences, experience and creative approach into consideration when casting the festival’s directing team.

We’re looking for directors who are excited by collaborative processes, bold storytelling and the opportunity to bring a fresh creative perspective to a short-form theatrical work.

Please review the Director Submissions Pack, and complete the form below with your details, relevant experience and script preferences. We look forward to hearing from you and learning more about your creative practice.

Arete Festival 2027 EOI's open until Wednesday 30 September, 11.59pm
